Terms and Conditions

We have made renting a car in Costa Rica Easy, Safe, and Secure. Please review the following terms & conditions that are applicable to all rentals with Target. You are welcome to contact us with any questions you may have.

  • Driver's license and age: All drivers must have a valid driver's license and be at least 21 years old.
  • Foreign renters must present a valid driver’s license, passport and credit card in own name at time of rental.
  • Unlimited mileage.
  • No charge for additional drivers.
  • Daily rate: Apply from 1 to 6 days rental.
  • Daily rates for 24 hours.
  • Weekly rate: Apply after 7 days. We offer seventh day of renting free, charging only the insurance.
  • Rates do not include:
    • gas.
    • Extra insurance (optional).
  • Fuel charges: The car must be returned with the same amount of gasoline specified in the beginning of the rent, otherwise, the missing amount will be charged.
  • Vehicles are restricted to Costa Rican territory.
  • Payment:
  • Through credit cards (VISA, MASTER CARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS, JCB or DINERS CLUB).
  • Rental Deposit: A deposit is required with a major credit card: VISA, MASTER CARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS, JCB or DINERS CLUB.
  • No cash accepted.
  • Extra Hours: 2 Hours tolerance. Exceeding 3 hours, an extra day will be charged.
  • In case of "No Show" a charge penalty will be charged.
  • Insurance:
  • - CDW - Mandatory insurance or basic insurance : This insurance covers for collision, turning over and damage to the car. Customer is responsible for the deductible in case of damages TPL, covers your liability to third parties or properties resulting from auto accident. The insurance company indicates that the 20% of total damage to third party or properties will be cover by the client. If the TPL is declined, the customer is responsible for all damages caused to third party and properties.
  • In case of car accident:
  • Follow these instructions to apply for the selected insurance:
  1. Call Target Car Rental immediately to report the accident.
  2. Call 911 to report the accident to the authorities. A traffic officer will go to the location of the accident. The customer cannot move the rented vehicle until the officer authorizes it.
  3. Call the National Insurance Company (800 800 8000) to report the accident and wait for the agent to go to the location of the accident.
  4. Provide to Target Car Rental the written reports given by the Police and the Insurance Company.

Customer must present police and insurance company reports for all incidents.
